Dr. Ilinca Iuraşcu

Biography

Ilinca Iurascu works on modern German and European literary cultures, focusing on media studies, the histories of materiality, and the intersections of aesthetics and technology. Her research spans written realist and epistolary fiction, paper history, Weimar cinema, and New German media theory. At the University of British Columbia, she regularly teaches courses on nineteenth- and twentieth-century literature, cinema, and critical theory. Her teaching and research areas include 18th to 20th-century German comparative literature, critical theory, media theory, material culture studies, the realist novel, film studies, and early cinema.
