Biography

Ilmi Granoff is a Non-Resident Senior Fellow at the Sabin Center for Climate Change Law, focusing on Climate Finance Regulation. With decades of experience across public, private, and third-sector institutions, he works on policy financing to transition towards a net-zero greenhouse gas economy. Ilmi has served as a trusted advisor, manager, and fiduciary to philanthropies, governments, financial institutions, and companies on sustainable finance policy matters across Europe, Latin America, and Africa. An accomplished speaker, researcher, and author, he is a member of the Climate-related Financial Risk Advisory Committee (CFRAC) within the Financial Stability Oversight Council at the U.S. Department of the Treasury. Ilmi is also a Visiting Senior Fellow at the Grantham Research Institute at the London School of Economics. As principal of a strategic advisory firm and Senior Advisor at ClimateWorks Foundation, he previously led and established the Finance Program. He has held various significant positions, including leading the Green Growth Business Unit at the Overseas Development Institute and serving as Special Counsel on Climate and Environment at the African Development Bank. His legal practice includes work with a global energy infrastructure group at Freshfields and the United Nations Development Program.
