Dr. Iloradanon Efimoff

Biography

Iloradanon Efimoff is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at Toronto Metropolitan University. He has a diverse background, being a Haida and European settler from the northwest coast of British Columbia. Dr. Efimoff completed his Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Applied Psychology at Douglas College in New Westminster, BC, and worked as a research assistant for the DUDES Club, an Indigenous men's health organization in Vancouver. He went on to complete a SSHRC-funded Master's in Applied Social Psychology at the University of Saskatchewan, focusing on perceptions and attitudes towards White-presenting Indigenous peoples. Following this, he earned a Vanier-funded PhD in Social Personality Psychology from the University of Manitoba, where his mixed-methods dissertation explored educational approaches to combat anti-Indigenous racism in Canada. Dr. Efimoff also completed a Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Research Indigenous Social Action Equity (RISE) Center in the Department of Psychology at the University of Michigan, focusing on the identity experiences of multiracial Indigenous individuals, an often understudied group in Canada. His current research interests include educational interventions to reduce anti-Indigenous racism and the experiences of multiracial Indigenous people in Canada, as well as broader topics like reconciliation, Indigenization in postsecondary institutions, and Indigenous wellbeing.
