Dr. Ilya Kovalenko

Biography

Ilya Kovalenko is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Penn State University. He earned his Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and the University of Michigan, completing his doctorate in 2020. His research focuses on advanced topics in mechanical engineering, specifically in the areas of design and manufacturing. Kovalenko's interests include dynamic systems control, intelligent systems, smart manufacturing, multi-agent systems, applied artificial intelligence, industrial automation, cyber-physical systems, and robotics. He has published numerous articles in leading journals including IEEE Robotics Automation Magazine, International Journal of Production Research, and IEEE Transactions on Automation Science and Engineering. Recognized for his significant contributions to the field, Kovalenko actively engages in both academic and industry collaborations, aiming to innovate solutions that enhance manufacturing efficiency and effectiveness.
