Biography

Iman Fayyad is an Assistant Professor of Architecture at Harvard University Graduate School of Design, where he teaches and conducts research in spatial geometry, focusing on tectonics, construction, and representation. He is the founding director of Projectif, an award-winning research practice that explores the relationship between architectural geometry, material economy, sensory perception, and the politics of physical space in building practice. His work has been published and exhibited in various prestigious venues including the New York Technology: Architecture Design, Nexus Network Journal, and the Carnegie Museum of Art. Fayyad's public work on zero-waste geometric construction techniques is supported by grants from the MetLife Foundation and the Lender Center for Social Justice. He has received notable accolades such as the Architects’ Newspaper Design Young Architects Prize and the ACSA Faculty Design Award, and he was a 2024 MacDowell Fellow. Previously, he served as an Assistant Professor at Syracuse University, where he coordinated the first-year design studio curriculum and taught courses in digital media. Fayyad has also been involved with faculty positions at MIT, Princeton, and Harvard, and has received multiple honors for his teaching, including being named Architecture Faculty of the Year at Harvard. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from MIT and a Master of Architecture with Distinction from Harvard.
