Biography

Imogen Cohen is a lecturer at the University of Amsterdam, where she has been working since 2007. She teaches a variety of subjects related to English Linguistics and Language Translation at the undergraduate level, including Phonology, Morphology, Syntax, World Englishes, Stylistics, and Literary Translation. In 2019, Cohen successfully completed her PhD entitled 'Tropes in Translation: Analysis of Dutch Creative Collocations and Compounds Translated into English'. Her research interests delve into creativity in translation, the philosophical implications of randomness in translation, and the normalization of iconicity. Over the past few years, she has developed a keen interest in the implications of generative AI on translation.
