Dr. Ina Kehrberg Ostrasz

Biography

Ina Kehrberg-Ostrasz is an Honorary Research Fellow and Lecturer in the School of Archaeology & Anthropology at the Australian National University (ANU). Her research focuses on the Eastern Mediterranean material world, particularly the linkages of Hellenistic and Roman urban sites across the western and eastern Roman provinces. She has extensive experience in reviewing standard pottery typologies and developing new approaches to the classification of archaeological artifacts. Additionally, her work includes the examination of find contexts and associated deposits, enhancing the understanding of commerce, urbanization, and the socio-economic systems underlying indigenous absorption of foreign cultures. Throughout her career, she has held various academic positions, including Visiting Fellow and Research Fellow across several prestigious institutions, and her scholarly contributions have significantly advanced the field of archaeology, particularly regarding the cultural and historical narratives of the Eastern Mediterranean.
