Biography

Dr. Inanc Birol is a distinguished scientist at Canada's Michael Smith Genome Sciences Centre and a professor at the University of British Columbia (UBC). He directs the Bioinformatics Technology Lab, focusing on the development of bioinformatics tools for de novo sequence assembly and downstream data analysis. Additionally, he oversees a wet lab at the BC Centre for Disease Control where he studies antimicrobial resistance and creates novel strategies as alternatives to conventional antibiotics.
