Dr. Ines Garcia De La Puente

Biography

Inés García de la Puente specializes in East Slavic Middle Ages and Translation Studies, with a focus on the cultural impact of historical trade routes and the dynamics of literary transmission in the context of modern Ukraine, Belarus, and Russia. Her research emphasizes twentieth and twenty-first century literature, particularly self-translation and life narratives of Russian-American and Hispanic-American authors. She has experience in translation and interpreting, and is currently involved in a project that aims to translate the oldest Rus’ chronicles into contemporary languages and cultures. Inés holds a PhD from Complutense University in Spain and has lived, taught, and researched in various countries including England, France, Germany, Poland, Russia, and Switzerland. She is currently an Associate at the Harvard Ukrainian Research Institute and has received research fellowships from the British Academy. Her articles have been published in reputable journals such as Russian History, Slavic East European Journal, and Canadian-American Slavic Studies. At Boston University, she teaches courses on Russophone literature and translingual writers, striving to create an inclusive and collaborative learning environment for her students.
