Biography

Ines Marques is a researcher and educator based in Switzerland. She obtained her Bachelor's degree in Biology from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon and later earned a Master's degree in Animal Biology, followed by a PhD from the University of Leiden in the Netherlands. After completing her PhD, she relocated to Madrid and began working at the Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Cardiovasculares (CNIC) under the supervision of Professor Nadia Mercader. During her post-doctoral research, funded by a Marie Skłodowska-Curie fellowship, Dr. Marques investigated the role of wt1 genes in heart regeneration. In 2015, she moved to Switzerland, where she started working as a research assistant and became involved in teaching Functional Anatomy and Histology to Biomedical Engineering Master's students. Her research primarily focuses on the genes involved in zebrafish (Danio rerio) heart development and regeneration, utilizing molecular imaging tools.
