Dr. Ines Violante

Biography

Ines Violante is a Senior Lecturer in Healthcare Engineering at King's College London, with a multidisciplinary background covering cellular human studies. She earned her BSc in Biochemistry and PhD in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Coimbra, where she was awarded the Sir Henry Wellcome Fellowship for her postdoctoral research at Imperial College London and University College London. After joining King's College, she took on the role of Senior Lecturer in Psychological Neuroscience at the University of Surrey while maintaining a visiting position as a researcher at Imperial College London. Dr. Violante leads the Neural Systems and Neuromodulation Lab, which employs a multidisciplinary approach to characterize and understand brain dynamics and the activity of brain networks. Utilizing computational models, EEG, MRI, and neuromodulatory techniques such as sensory electrical stimulation, her lab explores how brain areas coordinate their interactions. The goal of her work is to understand and manipulate these interactions to influence behavior and develop new treatments for neurological and psychiatric conditions. Relevant publications include systematic reviews on non-invasive brain stimulation methods and articles discussing the connections between various neuroscientific findings and their implications for clinical practices.
