Dr. Inge Hutter

Biography

Inge Hutter is a professor of Participatory Qualitative Research at the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS) at Erasmus University Rotterdam. She is a cultural anthropologist and demographer specializing in qualitative and quantitative research methods. Over her career, she has supervised more than 20 PhD researchers and conducted fieldwork across diverse regions, including Asia, Africa, Latin America, and Europe. Hutter has co-authored significant publications in the area of qualitative research, including the book 'Qualitative Research Methods.' A key focus of her work is the development and implementation of participatory research approaches that engage communities and lead to collaborative interventions. She has held the position of rector/dean at ISS from 2015 to 2023 and has been recognized as an Academic Lead and Ambassador for Erasmian Values, promoting societal engagement and global citizenship within higher education. Hutter has received training in various leadership styles and emphasizes transformative leadership in her academic role.
