Biography

Inge Nygaard Pedersen is an Emeritus Associate Professor at Aalborg University, specializing in Music Therapy within the fields of Art, Aesthetics, and Health. Since 1981, he has focused on the education of music therapists, exploring how to create an integrated identity for graduates who work with diverse populations facing various challenges. This research continues in a book project that examines music therapy education in Aalborg in the context of other European programs. Since 1995, his primary research has centered on music therapy in psychiatry, employing both qualitative and quantitative methodologies. Currently, he leads a nationwide randomized, double-blind RCT study examining the impact of music therapy on the negative symptoms of schizophrenia, supported by the TRYG Foundation with a funding of 3 million DKK. He is also involved in a project investigating the effects of music listening on patients with depression and severe sleep disturbances.
