Biography

Inge D. Wijnberg graduated in 1990 with honors as a veterinarian from Utrecht University. She has a comprehensive background in equine internal medicine, having completed a residency and became an RNVA Specialist in this field. In 2002, she defended her PhD on the diagnostic possibilities of EMG needle examination in horses. Since joining Utrecht University in 2003 as an assistant professor, she has focused on infectious diseases, cardiology, neuromuscular diseases, and neonatology, while coordinating the Neonatal Foal Intensive Care Unit from 1996 to 2016. Wijnberg has held various educational roles, including chairman of the Bachelor program “Circulation” and has organized courses and workshops internationally. She has authored 142 publications in research and actively participates in projects related to bio-diagnostics and infectious disease management for military working animals. Additionally, Wijnberg is involved in governmental advisory roles for health and safety regarding biological agents.
