Professor Dr. Ingeborg Callesen

Biography

Ingeborg Callesen is an Associate Professor at the University of Copenhagen specializing in Forest Landscape Ecology. She has focused her research on terrestrial ecosystems since 1994, particularly in the areas of forest soil science and forest ecology through field experimentation and observation. Her research delves into carbon and nitrogen storage and cycling in forest ecosystems, employing statistical modeling and various soil databases. In recent years, she has incorporated sustainability science into her research, especially concerning bioenergy and climate change's effects on ecosystem services. She has been involved in numerous projects aimed at improving carbon stock change estimates for natural inventories and the implications of forest management on carbon sequestration. With her contribution to multi-disciplinary approaches, her work also explores the intersection of humanities and social sciences with natural sciences, addressing complex human-nature interactions. Ingeborg collaborates extensively on projects that enhance the understanding and management of forest resources in the context of climate change and sustainability.
