Dr. Ingela Lundgren

Biography

Ingela Lundgren is an Emerita Professor at the University of Gothenburg, specializing in Midwifery Science. She graduated as a registered nurse in 1978 and became a midwife in 1986, working primarily in midwifery delivery wards. Ingela served as the Deputy Head of the Department at the University of Borås from 2005 to 2008 and later led the Institute of Health and Care Sciences from 2010 to 2018. Her research focuses on childbirth from a historical perspective, normal birth, the influence of women's lives, models of care, and women's experiences during childbirth. She participates in both national and international research collaborations, leading a group dedicated to childbirth research. Ingela has contributed to numerous publications addressing various aspects of midwifery and women's health, emphasizing a woman-centered approach to care and the experiences of women in childbirth settings. Her work involves scoping reviews on clinical decision-making in childbirth and investigations into the emotional responses of professionals in obstetric care. She is actively engaged in advancing midwifery practices through evidence-based research and has presented her findings at international conferences.
