Biography

Ingrid Boas is a Professor at the Environmental Policy Group of Wageningen University, specializing in the intersections of environmental change, migration, and mobility. Her research focuses on the political power dimensions of climate-related mobilities and migrations, addressing issues like (semi-)nomadic indigenous livelihoods affected by climate change. She has been actively involved in several leading research programs, including climate mobilities in Bengal, West Africa, and the Pacific borderlands, supported by a personal VIDI grant from the Dutch Scientific Organisation. Ingrid has supervised numerous PhD and master's thesis projects dealing with climate and environmental mobilities across various regions, including the Netherlands and the Caribbean. With a background in International Relations, she completed her PhD at the University of Kent in 2014, centering on the securitization of climate migration. Ingrid has also served as a visiting fellow at prestigious institutions such as the United Nations University and the Migration Policy Centre in Florence. She co-founded the Environmental & Climate Mobilities Network and contributes as an expert to the EU and Dutch Government on climate mobility issues.
