Biography

Ingrid Heynderickx is a Full Professor in the Human-Technology Interaction group at Eindhoven University of Technology. Her research focuses on applied visual perception, particularly in optimizing image and video quality in displays. She began her research career at Philips Research Laboratories in 1987 after earning her PhD in physics from the University of Antwerp in 1986. Throughout her career, she has been fascinated by how people perceive images and has worked on improving the design of displays using signal processing algorithms and artificial lighting. Her research interests include rendering fidelity, which aims to create realistic representations of illuminated objects, and understanding how age and cultural background influence visual perception. In addition to her research, she serves as dean of the Department of Industrial Engineering and Innovation Sciences at her university and has held various prestigious roles, including Research Fellow at Philips and Visiting Research Professor at Southeast University. She has been recognized as a Fellow of the Society Information Displays (SID) and received the Otto Shade Prize in 2015 for her contribution to the field.
