Biography

Ingrid Rembold is a Lecturer in Medieval History at the University of Manchester. She completed her BA in History and MSt in Medieval History at Merton College, Oxford between 2006 and 2010, and went on to pursue a PhD at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge from 2010 to 2014. Rembold was awarded a DAAD postdoctoral scholarship to conduct research at Georg-August-Universität Göttingen before taking up a Junior Research Fellowship at Hertford College, Oxford from 2015 to 2018. Her research focuses on governance, monasticism, and Christianization in the early medieval ages, particularly examining themes of gender and authority in the Carolingian world. Her current research project, supported by the AHRC, investigates the interdependency of monasteries and rulers in the Carolingian Empire, emphasizing the role of gender in these relationships. Rembold welcomes supervision of PhD students working on topics related to early medieval Europe, having co-supervised several completed PhD projects in this area.
