Dr. Ingrid Schirmer

Biography

Ingrid Schirmer is a professor at the University of Hamburg, specializing in Information Technology Design and Gender Perspectives. She has an extensive educational background, earning a diploma in Computer Science from Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt. Before her retirement in April 2022, she led the Information Technology Design and Gender Perspectives section in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Hamburg. Ingrid's research interests include IT Governance, Business Ecosystems, Digital Transformation, and the interaction of digital technologies with sociotechnical systems. She has spearheaded multiple educational initiatives, including the Data Literacy Education Network, and has played significant roles in various digital platforms aimed at enhancing the quality of computer science education in Hamburg. Her contributions to academic governance have been recognized through her involvement with several committees and organizations promoting gender equality and diversity in technology education. Through her teaching and research work, she supports doctoral candidates and remains actively engaged in projects that foster collaboration across disciplines and improve digital literacy among students and educators.
