Ingrid is a cardiovascular epidemiologist and biostatistician with a background in laboratory-based medical research. She is currently a Research Fellow at the Cardiovascular Epidemiology Research Centre within the University of Western Australia, working alongside the Cardiology Population Health Laboratory at the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute. Ingrid is dedicated to conducting co-designed research aimed at improving heart health for people globally. Her PhD, which is submitted, focuses on acute rheumatic fever (ARF) and rheumatic heart disease (RHD), both preventable illnesses caused by bacterial infections. The research investigates the short, medium, and long-term health outcomes for young individuals diagnosed with ARF and/or RHD, alongside the economic impacts of hospitalization for these conditions in Australia. Ingrid is also investigating the impacts of pregnancy on heart health outcomes for women with RHD and working with a team to utilize primary health care data for passive surveillance of diseases caused by Streptococcus.
