Professor Dr. Inna Kupreeva

Biography

Inna Kupreeva is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Edinburgh specializing in Ancient Philosophy. With a research focus on ancient Greek thought, her interests include theories of mind, moral philosophy, and the intersections of science and medicine within the Aristotelian and Platonist traditions. Her academic background includes a B.A. and M.A. from Moscow State University and a Ph.D. from the University of Toronto. She has held various research fellowships and lectureships, including positions at King’s College London and St Hilda's College in Oxford. Besides her teaching and administrative roles, she actively supervises dissertations on significant philosophical texts like Plato's Philebus and Aristotle's Metaphysics, engaging students in Greek, Latin, and Arabic philosophy discussions. Her extensive publications include translations and commentaries on Aristotle's works, analyses of Alexandrian philosophers, and contributions to various philosophical texts and journals. Inna continues to supervise PhD students and pursues her interest in early Byzantine thought alongside contemporary interpretations of ancient philosophy.
