Biography

Dr. Inna Sharf is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at McGill University. She obtained her Ph.D. from the University of Toronto, where her research focused on various aspects of dynamics, control, and robotics. Her current research encompasses multiple areas including the design and dynamic control of tethered solar shields and automation in tree-harvesting machinery. In collaboration with FPInnovations, she is actively working on trajectory path planning aimed at increasing the autonomy and intelligence of tree-harvesting machines. Furthermore, her research extends into space systems, particularly addressing challenges related to space debris management, de-orbitation strategies, and on-orbit servicing utilizing CubeSat technology. Dr. Sharf has extensive expertise in unmanned aerial vehicles and multibody systems, applying her knowledge to dynamic stability modeling and robotic system design and integration. She leads the Aerospace Mechatronics Laboratory and teaches several courses related to mechanics, dynamics, and control systems.
