Dr. Insoo Kang

Biography

Dr. Insoo Kang is a Professor at the Yale School of Medicine and has been a faculty member since 1999. He completed his MD at Hallym University in 1990, followed by residency and fellowship training in rheumatology and immunology at prominent affiliated programs. His research focuses on understanding the human immune system, particularly the role of T lymphocytes and cytokine receptors in health and disease. He has identified key T-cell subsets and their unique properties in various clinical conditions, such as aging and autoimmune diseases. Dr. Kang's lab has contributed significantly to the understanding of how certain cytokines influence T-cell behavior and disease progression, especially in conditions like systemic lupus erythematosus. He has published extensively, with works frequently recognized in prominent journals, highlighting the importance of targeting specific immune pathways for therapeutic advancements. His current research interests include studying age-related changes in T-cell function and the mechanisms underlying autoimmune responses that lead to chronic inflammation.
