Biography

Ioana Letitia Chesnoiu Matei is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Periodontics at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. She has previously served as full-time faculty in Periodontics at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. Dr. Matei has completed her specialty training in the Department of Periodontology & Implant Dentistry at NYU College of Dentistry. She was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship and holds a Master of Science degree in Biomaterials from NYU. Dr. Matei has continued her post-graduate education in implantology as an ITI Scholar in Bern, Switzerland, under the supervision of Professor Daniel Buser. Additionally, she completed the CDM Faculty Implant Fellowship under the mentorship of Dr. Dennis Tarnow. Her main research interests include in vivo and in vitro characterization of biomaterials, reconstruction and regeneration of tissue, dental implants, and periodontal regeneration, with a focus on advancing the field through co-authored publications in peer-reviewed journals.
