Biography

Ioannis Kaparias graduated with a Master of Engineering (MEng) degree in Civil Engineering from Imperial College London in 2004, during which he spent his final year studying at RWTH Aachen University in Germany. He joined the Centre for Transport Studies for his PhD research, which focused on reliable dynamic in-vehicle systems, completing it in 2008. Following this, he worked as a post-doctoral Research Associate on a wide range of research projects for four years. In 2012, he became an Honorary Lecturer in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Imperial College London, while also holding full-time academic positions at City, University of London from 2012 to 2016 and at the University of Southampton from 2016 to the present. His research interests encompass traffic engineering, modeling and simulation, Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), network reliability, travel behavior, and the transport public realm, which has resulted in numerous journal publications and presentations at international conferences.
