Biography

Ioannis Lampropoulos joined the Energy & Resources group at the Copernicus Institute for Sustainable Development at Utrecht University as a postdoctoral researcher in September 2015. He holds a Dipl. Ing. degree from the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens, an M.Sc. degree (cum laude) in Sustainable Energy Technology from Delft University of Technology, and a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Energy Systems from Eindhoven University of Technology. His professional experience includes working as a project engineer at Siemens Greece, focusing on integrated command control solutions. In 2009, he conducted a study on the effect of charging batteries in electric vehicles on low voltage distribution grids for the Department of Innovation of Enexis, a Distribution System Operator in the Netherlands. His research interests encompass the planning and operation of power systems, demand-side management, and renewable energy sources. He has contributed to securing research funding and has been involved in various research consortium-based projects, including E.U. FP7 and Horizon 2020, as well as Dutch Top Sector Energy projects. He is also an active peer reviewer for international journals such as IEEE and IET and a member of scientific committees for international conferences. Ioannis has been a registered engineer with the technical chamber in Greece since 2006.
