Dr. Iqbal Jaffer

Biography

Iqbal Jaffer is a Cardiac Surgeon and Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at McMaster University. He serves as the Program Director for the Cardiac Surgery Residency Program. His clinical practice primarily focuses on aortic valve interventions and surgical transcatheter aortic valve replacements (TAVR). Dr. Jaffer is actively involved in advancing early discharge models for aortopathy care. He completed his medical degree (MBBS) at the University of Queensland and subsequently earned his PhD from McMaster University. His postgraduate training includes an internship in General Surgery at Queensland Health and a residency in Cardiac Surgery at McMaster University, followed by a fellowship in TAVR and CT Structural Medicine at McMaster University.
