Biography

Ira Jacobs is a Professor of Exercise Physiology at the University of Toronto, where he also serves as the Director of the Tanenbaum Institute. He holds a Doctor of Medical Sciences in Clinical Physiology from the Karolinska Institute in Sweden and a Master of Human Kinetics in Exercise Physiology from the University of Windsor. His research interests are centered around exercise physiology, particularly human skeletal muscle metabolism and physiological adaptations to high-intensity exercise. Dr. Jacobs explores the effects of nutritional and pharmacological interventions on exercise performance and investigates physiological responses to environmental extremes. He is actively accepting new graduate students for primary supervisory roles and is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences, the U.S. National Academy of Kinesiology, and the American College of Sports Medicine.
