Biography

Irene Ling completed her Bachelor of Science in Applied Chemistry in 2004 and a Master of Technology in Materials Science in 2006 at the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. She began her PhD journey at the same university in 2008 and has built an impressive independent research profile since then. In 2016, she was appointed as a Lecturer in Inorganic Chemistry at Monash University Malaysia, elevating to Senior Lecturer in 2022. Her research focuses on supramolecular chemistry, which includes self-assembly, crystallography, advanced materials such as carbon-rich nanomaterials, and green chemistry, particularly organocatalysts. Irene has published over 50 refereed publications and serves on the editorial board of PLoS as a Junior Ambassador for USERN. As of now, she is the President of the Malaysian Crystallographic Association and is dedicated to mentoring students and advancing research in her field.
