Biography

Irène Oore received her BA from the University of Tel-Aviv (Israel) with a double major in French Literature and American Literature. She completed her MA at the University of Waterloo (Ontario), where her thesis focused on Quebec novelist André Langevin. Subsequently, she earned her PhD from the University of Western Ontario (London), concentrating on the works of Quebec writer Marie-Claire Blais. Her research interests lie in the interrelationships between various forms of art, such as writing, visual arts, and music, particularly as they pertain to expression within these mediums. At Dalhousie University, she teaches courses in both the French language and French literature, emphasizing Quebec contemporary culture. Some of the courses she offers include FREN 1007/08 Basic French, FREN 2202 Introduction to French Literature, and FREN 4904 Quebec Women Writers. She has contributed to the academic discourse on Quebec literature through publications and presentations at various conferences.
