Dr. Irina Paci

Biography

Irina Paci is a professor at the University of Victoria with a focus on physical and theoretical chemistry. She holds a PhD from Queen's University and has completed postdoctoral fellowships at both Queen's and Northwestern University. Her research group specializes in developing and employing multi-scale theoretical computational methods to understand the fundamental aspects of self-assembly in molecular materials. Irina's work specifically investigates the impact of various components in the molecular environment, such as solvents and surfaces, as well as the cooperative and dynamic effects of diffusion and mechanisms of surface assembly. She has a particular interest in the properties of materials, focusing on developing theoretical methods that explain the dynamic behavior and responses of materials to time-dependent electromagnetic fields. In addition to her research, her teaching interests include introductory physical chemistry, quantum chemistry, statistical mechanics, and computational chemistry.
