Biography

Irini Moustaki is a prominent statistician known for her contributions to the development of statistical methodology for analyzing large complex datasets. Her research interests include latent variable modeling, categorical mixed outcomes, structural equation modeling, estimation methods, goodness-of-fit testing, outlier detection, and treatment of missing values in longitudinal studies. Moustaki applies her methodologies in various fields including social sciences, education, psychiatry, and health. Furthermore, she is a co-founder of the Psychometric Lab within the Department of Statistics. Moustaki has served as the editor-in-chief of the journal Psychometrika from 2014 to 2018 and was the President of the Psychometric Society from 2022 to 2023. Her academic influence is recognized through an honorary doctorate awarded by the Faculty of Social Sciences at Uppsala University in 2014.
