Biography

Irmgard Borghouts is an endowed professor of Human Resource Management and Social Security at Tilburg University, Netherlands. She chairs the endowed Instituut Gak and leads a team of motivated researchers and PhD candidates focused on creating an inclusive labor market within the Human Resource Studies department of the Tilburg School of Social and Behavioral Sciences. Her research primarily deals with labor market policies and social security systems, particularly for vulnerable groups such as people with disabilities and the unemployed. She earned her Ph.D. in 2012 with an international comparative study on employment security systems, having researched in five European countries. Her work has garnered recognition, including the German Science Prize in 2016. Additionally, Borghouts is a board member of the Willem II Betrokken foundation and has been involved in quantitative and qualitative research projects commissioned by the European Commission and the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment, resulting in over 100 publications as a sought-after speaker both domestically and internationally.
