Biography

Iryna Yakymenko is a Professor at Linköping University, specializing in fundamental quantum physics and semiconductor nanotechnology. Her research focuses on the properties and behavior of nanometer-sized semiconductor structures that confine electrons, such as quantum dots and quantum wires. She aims to create artificial objects with properties controlled by quantum mechanical laws, with potential applications in spintronics, microelectronics, photonics, and quantum information technology. Her projects include modeling electron states to determine conditions for spontaneous local magnetization and investigating the effects of geometry and magnetic fields on quantum wires.
