Biography

Isaac Marcelo Lipkus is a Professor at Duke University in the School of Nursing. His research interests include risk perceptions, attitudes, and dispositional variables that influence lifestyle behaviors related to cancer prevention and detection, particularly concerning tobacco use and physical activity. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, obtained in 1991, and an M.A. from the same institution in 1988. Lipkus has been involved in multiple grants focusing on optimizing risk messages for tobacco cessation among young adults, as well as studying the perceptions and harms associated with edible marijuana products. He serves as a member of the Duke Cancer Institute and has held various positions including Associate Professor in the Community Family Medicine and Psychiatry Behavioral Sciences departments.
