Professor Dr. Isabel Cordero

Biography

Isabel Cordero is a Polar Research Assistant at the Marine Polar Geophysics division of the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, associated with the Columbia Climate School. Her expertise includes project management, fieldwork logistics, and data curatorship, particularly within the United States Antarctic Program Data Center. She has contributed to various research projects focusing on Antarctic fieldwork, ice sheet visualization, and remote sensing technologies. Cordero has been actively involved in managing the Polar Geophysics and Glaciology Group and has organized events like the Open House since 2022. Her research interests encompass a blend of data visualization, airborne ice penetrating radar, and science communication, reflecting her multidisciplinary approach to archaeology and environmental science. Cordero has presented at numerous conferences, including the American Geophysical Union meetings, where she shared insights into visualizing Antarctic data through advanced technologies such as augmented and virtual reality.
