Isabel Mello is a Professor and Head of the Division of Endodontics at Dalhousie University’s Faculty of Dentistry. She received her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the Federal University of Alfenas, Brazil, in 1996. Mello completed her residency and Master of Sciences in Endodontics at the University of Sao Paulo in 2000. In 2008, she defended her Doctorate in Dental Sciences through a joint program between the University of Sao Paulo and the University of British Columbia. Throughout her academic career, Mello has received multiple teaching awards and has lectured both nationally and internationally. She is an active researcher with numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals and is board certified in Endodontics, holding the title of Fellow from the Royal College of Dentists of Canada. In addition to her academic duties, she serves as a consulting staff member in the Dentistry Department at IWK Children's Hospital in Nova Scotia and maintains a part-time practice in the region.
