Professor Cochelin’s scholarly work investigates distinct complementary fields of socio-religious European history, focusing on medieval monasticism and the history of non-cloistered religious women. Her research interests include the history of service involving female and male servants and an overall focus on the history of non-elite groups, which aims to understand the life and agency of the majority within these contexts. She is presently working on collaborative interdisciplinary projects with scholars from Europe and North America and is co-editing a book on monastic infirmaries and hospices in premodern Europe. Additionally, she is co-directing a series with Brepols in Turnhout, Belgium, titled Disciplina Monastica Sister.
