Biography

Ishwar K. Puri is a professor of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Southern California, with affiliate appointments as a professor of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science and Biomedical Engineering. He oversees the Office of Research Innovation, guiding the university’s research, commercialization, and entrepreneurship programs. A fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering and the American Association for the Advancement of Science, he has received the Engineering Medal for Engineering Excellence from the Professional Engineers Ontario. He is the author of over 200 publications and books, with more than 10,500 citations on Google Scholar and an H-Index of 59. His research includes contributions to strained partially premixed counterflow flames, thermal management in data centers, thermomagnetic convection, and nanoparticle synthesis for sensors and supercapacitors. His recent work focuses on utilizing magnetic fields to organize materials and tissues. Puri has held leadership roles in engineering education, including as the former Dean of Engineering at McMaster University, and has served on numerous editorial boards for academic journals.
