Biography

Isis Settles is a Professor of Psychology and an expert in Afroamerican and African Studies at the University of Michigan. She holds a BA from Harvard College and a PhD in Psychology from the University of Michigan. With 15 years of teaching experience at Michigan State University, she has dedicated her career to understanding the experiences, perceptions, and consequences of unfair treatment directed at devalued social group members, particularly Black women. Her influential work has also been recognized through her fellowships with the Society of Psychology for Women and the Society for Psychological Study of Social Issues. She has received multiple awards for excellence in diversity and service, highlighting her commitment to supporting Black women in psychology and academia.
