Biography

Istebreq Saeedi received his MSc degree in Energy Sustainability and Electrical Power Engineering in 2014 and a Ph.D. in Electrical Electronics Engineering in 2020 from the University of Southampton, which was funded by the prestigious Schlumberger Foundation Faculty of the Future programme. Following his postgraduate studies, he joined the Welding Institute TWI in Cambridge, where he worked for several years as an operations project leader, specializing in leading projects that developed innovative polymeric materials for various applications in the energy, oil & gas, and automotive industries. In February 2021, Dr. Saeedi commenced his role as a lecturer at the University of Southampton, contributing to the Electrical Power Engineering research group. He is an active member of the Schlumberger Foundation Faculty of the Future and IEEE Women in Engineering, focusing his research on dielectric materials, green insulations, electrical insulation systems, and polymer composites, particularly smart polymeric materials. His work involves understanding the fundamental physics of high voltage dielectric materials, and he is currently researching bio-based polymeric materials for high voltage electrical applications and their manufacturing.
