Biography

Ito Peng is a Canada Research Chair in Global Social Policy and Director of the Centre for Global Social Policy at the University of Toronto. His research focuses on global social policy political economy, specializing in care economy, family, gender, migration, and climate change policies. He teaches courses in Political Sociology and Public Policymaking at the Department of Sociology and the Munk School of Global Affairs. His current research projects include examining care economies in nine countries and developing gender-sensitive macroeconomic models, as well as investigating care and climate change policies through a task force for the Royal Society of Canada. Peng is a distinguished fellow at the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada and a co-lead on the Rockefeller Foundation-Brookings Institute's Global Flagship project. He has published numerous works addressing the impacts of COVID-19 on care work and immigration policies in various contexts, aiding in the discourse on social and economic sustainability.
