Biography

Ivan Gout graduated with an MD from Lviv State Medical University in Ukraine in 1983 and developed a strong passion for becoming a surgeon in oncology. He pursued a PhD in experimental oncology at the Institute of Experimental Oncology, Ukraine, obtaining his doctorate in 1987. He completed a fellowship at the International Agency for Research on Cancer, enhancing his expertise in clinical oncology. Gout then moved to London for post-doctoral training in Jim Woodgett's laboratory at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research, focusing on the PI3 kinase pathway in signal transduction. In 1996, he established his own research group at the Ludwig Institute studying the regulation of the S6 kinase pathway. Since 2003, he has held the position of Professor in the Department of Biochemistry, which is now named Structural and Molecular Biology, at University College London. His active research group investigates the regulation of cell growth and metabolism in health and disease. Gout has authored 142 papers in peer-reviewed journals, holding an H-Index of 60, and has a portfolio of 10 worldwide patents, running anti-cancer drug discovery programs.
