Biography

Ivan Martinovic is a Professor at the Department of Computer Science, University of Oxford. Previously, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the Security Research Lab at UC Berkeley and the Secure Computing Networking Centre at UC Irvine from 2009 to 2011. He received a Carl-Zeiss Foundation Fellowship and has worked as an associate lecturer at TU Kaiserslautern, Germany. He obtained his PhD in 2008 from TU Kaiserslautern under the supervision of Prof. Jens B. Schmitt and completed his MSc at TU Darmstadt, Germany, in 2004. His research interests include cyber-physical system security and network security, focusing on authentication and intrusion detection using physical-layer information, RF reactive jamming, and traffic analysis. He has been involved in several projects, including the OpenSky participatory sensor network and the QPEP project on fast and secure VPN for GEO Satellite Broadband. Martinovic has also contributed to various publications relating to securing satellite communications and authentication methods using hardware fingerprinting.
