Ivar Martin is a condensed matter theorist and a Senior Scientist in the Material Science Division at Argonne National Lab. His research interests encompass the equilibrium properties of materials, superconductivity, magnetism, and nonequilibrium phenomena. He is particularly focused on exploring methods to create new quantum states via strong periodic and quasiperiodic driving, as well as investigating microscopic theories of quantum decoherence and measurement. Martin also examines ways to implement unusual correlated states in quantum hardware and the impact of classical nonlinear phenomena on phase mode locking. He received his undergraduate degree from Moscow State University and earned his PhD from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In 1999, he joined Los Alamos National Lab as a postdoctoral staff member and transitioned to Argonne in 2013.
