Biography

Ivo Adan is a Full Professor at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) holding the Manufacturing Networks chair in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. His expertise includes probability theory, statistics, operations research, and stochastic operations research, with a particular focus on modeling and controlling manufacturing, warehousing, and transportation systems. His current research interests involve the mathematical analysis of multi-dimensional structured Markov processes and queueing models, which serve as essential tools for the design and control of manufacturing systems. Ivo received his MSc and PhD in Mathematics from TU/e. In 2011, he became a Full Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering after serving as an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. He has also been a visiting professor in the Operations Research Department at the University of North Carolina and has affiliated with the University of Amsterdam as a part-time Full Professor in Stochastic Operations Research from 2008 to 2011. Ivo serves on the editorial boards of various journals, including Queuing Systems and Probability Engineering and Informational Sciences, and he is a senior fellow at Eurandom, serving as the research director for Beta, a national network for Operations Management and Logistics.
