Biography

Ivor Fleming is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine at the University of Toronto. He completed his Honours Bachelor's degree in Inorganic Chemistry prior to entering the Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia (UBC), where he graduated with his MD in 1985. Dr. Fleming interned at the Royal Victoria Hospital and completed his CCFP training at the Montreal General Hospital. He returned to British Columbia to work as the director of the Bella Medical Clinic for several years before beginning his residency in Anesthesia at the University of Toronto, where he completed his FRCPC training in 1995. Following his training, he worked as a clinical fellow at Mount Sinai Hospital and was appointed a lecturer at the University of Toronto in 1996. Dr. Fleming served as a resident supervisor at Mount Sinai for four years and was promoted to Assistant Professor of Anesthesia in 2001. He worked as the director of clinical anesthesia at Mount Sinai from 2002 to 2010, with interests in acute pain management, blood conservation, transfusion medicine, anesthesia for head and neck surgery, post-operative pulmonary complications, and anesthesia for laser surgery.
