Biography

Ivy Mawusi Asuo is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Pennsylvania State University. She has years of research experience in materials science, photovoltaics, and scientific project management. Ivy worked as a scientific researcher and lead Materials Scientist in various companies and research institutes, including Institut National de la Recherche Scientifique - Énergie Matériaux Télécommunications (INRS-EMT) and Faurecia Emissions Control Technologies GmbH. In her role at AMP, she established a local fabrication laboratory for urban mining electronic waste in Ghana. Ivy is also a co-founder of DAMINY EduNergy Ltd, a platform focusing on leadership, education, science, and research aimed at modeling future minds among young scholars in her home continent. Before her position at Pennsylvania State University, Ivy conducted PhD research at WattByWatt Inc. in Canada, where she developed materials for energy-saving conversion applications. Her recent research focuses on ambient synthesis of energy materials, particularly metal halide perovskites for photovoltaic optoelectronic device applications, studying the performance of these materials using in-situ characterization tools.
