In 2000, Iwonka Eagle graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in human biology and began her career in research at the Karmanos Cancer Center. Iwonka completed her dental hygiene studies in 2004 at the University of Michigan, earning a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene. Following her graduation, she worked in clinical private practice before returning to the University of Michigan in 2014 to graduate with a Master of Science in Dental Hygiene. Over the course of her career, Iwonka has taught in the Division of Dental Hygiene for both undergraduate and graduate programs. She serves as the course director for fundamentals of periodontics for first-year dental students and has successfully mentored both undergraduate and graduate students as a faculty advisor and thesis chair for original research projects. In 2024, Iwonka was appointed as the program director for the University of Michigan Dental Hygiene MSDH program. She is involved in educational clinical research and is deeply interested in advocating for interdisciplinary collaboration and the advancement of the dental hygiene profession. Iwonka Eagle is an active member of the American Dental Education Association, serving in various leadership roles, and she is also a member of the American Dental Hygienists' Association, where she serves as the Education Chair for the Michigan Dental Hygienists’ Association.
